PTA General Meeting & Student Performances (October 26)
There will be a General PTA Meeting on Tuesday, October 26, starting at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria. Also included in the meeting will be student performances by Grades 4 & 5 from Tracks 1 & 2. We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!!
Teacher Appreciation Breakfast - Track 2 (October 26)
The Teacher Appreciation Breakfast for Track 2 will be held on Tuesday, October 26 from 7:45 am - 8:45 am. This is a great way to show your appreciation for our Track 2 teachers and recognize them for all of their hard work throughout the year!
If you are on Track 2 and would like to volunteer or bring in a breakfast goodie, please contact Sharon Doughty at 919-803-4128 (please leave your name and phone number if the answering machine picks up).
Volunteers still needed for:
Breakfast items can be dropped off at the school's main entrance to Sharon on Monday, October 25 at 4 pm or Tuesday, October 26 before 8 am.

Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night (October 21)
Chick-Fil-A Family Night will be held on Thursday, October 21 from 5 pm - 8 pm at the Chick-Fil-A located on Timber Drive in the Kroger/Target Shopping Center. Come out and support your PTA by having dinner at the Garner Towne Square shopping center on Timber Drive Chick-Fil-A on October 21. A portion of the sales that evening will go to support our PTA so be sure to let the cashier know you are from Vance Elementary when you place your oder!
BiblioTech Run for Wellness and Fun
Kickoff is September 28, which means our run is only a few weeks away! The BiblioTech Run for Wellness and Fun is a joint effort of the students, parents, and staff at Vance to further enhance wellness and fitness at our school. This event will also allow us to purchase exciting technological and media items for our classrooms and media center that will enhance our students’ learning experience.
The objective is to raise funds through student participation in a “run or walk” around the school’s track. The students are encouraged to ask their immediate family, friends and neighbors to sponsor their run. Each sponsor may pledge either an amount per lap (1/5 mile) or a fixed dollar amount. If you own or manage a local business and would like to be a corporate sponsor, please contact Mrs. Healy at 662-5622. We have several levels of sponsorship available.
The run for Tracks 2 and 3 will be held October 12, and the run for Tracks 1 and 4 will be held November 3. The children will run or walk the track, and the number of laps completed will be recorded. They will then inform their sponsors of their accomplishment and collect their pledges.
As an added bonus for their efforts, students will be eligible to earn a prize based upon the pledges collected. Pizza parties will be awarded to the K-2 classroom and 3-5 classrooms that raise the most money.
Please encourage your children to participate in the BiblioTech Run for Wellness and Fun. This will be the last fundraiser of the school year! Please consider volunteering to help make this annual event a great success. Volunteers are needed to help the PTA Team perform a variety of tasks before, during and after the event. You may volunteer online with the form on the left side of the webpage or by calling Mrs. Healy at 662-5622.

* Biblio is a root word that means book. The Spanish word for library is bibliotheca. The French word is Bibliotheque. We have changed these words a little to make a fun, creative word for the fund-raiser that will help us buy new books, BIBLIO and TECHnology equipment for our school.
